Dear Addams Families,

Addams Elementary School services around one-thousand students. In addition to teaching the core subjects, we make every effort to further develop the social, emotional, and behavioral development of your child.

Addams teachers are currently implementing the latest teaching practices that are aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Every Thursday staff meeting is dedicated to teacher professional development. At these trainings, teachers spend time learning new innovative methods that will ensure your child’s academic success in English Language Arts and Mathematics. These new innovative methods will engage students to think critically when reading informational text and literature, as well will require them to deepen their understanding of Math concepts.

Addams is also a “Safe & Civil” school. Several times a year select Addams teachers meet and discuss what is working right and what needs refinement. Select teachers will then bring back valuable information that is shared during the Thursday professional development meetings. It is through the Safe & Civil program that topics such as respect, bullying, kindness, and taking responsibility for ones actions are discussed.

At Addams we understand and value the importance of having a strong Volunteer in Public Schools (VIPS) program. We have a growing number of registered volunteers who can help support our school. Our volunteers can help in classroom, around the office, while others can take work home on behalf of the classroom teacher.

Please do not hesitate to call the office if you have any questions, or concerns regarding your child's experiences at Addams Elementary School.

With warm regards,

A. Dueñas, Principal
